Physical Superintelligence raises $58M to optimize AI data centers
Physical Superintelligence launched with $58 million to build AI systems that design and optimize physical systems, starting with data centers and space infrastructure. The interesting bet is that the next large AI market may be less about generating text and more about finding better engineering designs humans would not reach on their own.

Q1What did PSI launch?
On its official site, Physical Superintelligence says it has raised more than $58 million, led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, to build AI systems for physics discovery and engineering physical infrastructure.
Q2Why start with data centers?
AI data centers are giant coupled physics problems: power, cooling, networking, layout and reliability all interact. Small efficiency gains can be worth enormous amounts when facilities cost billions of dollars and power availability is the limiting resource.
Q3Is this just another world-model startup?
Not exactly. PSI describes world models as a tool for engineering and scientific discovery rather than mainly visual simulation. The goal is to propose physical designs, test them against constraints and eventually find new physical relationships.
Q4Why is $58 million notable?
It is a large seed for a company attacking long-horizon scientific problems. The investor list also includes people from OpenAI, Nvidia, SoftBank Energy and other infrastructure-heavy companies, which fits the first commercial focus.
Q5What would prove the thesis?
A design that materially lowers the cost, power use or build time of a real data center. Scientific ambition is huge, but the near-term market will judge PSI on whether its models create engineering savings that can be measured in dollars and megawatts.
