The valuation gap makes the split unusually sharp. Helsing carries 2.25 times Quantum Systems’ valuation despite a lower 2026 revenue forecast, and investors are reportedly paying about 3.8 times the forward revenue multiple. They are pricing Helsing for strategic control, not merely for selling more systems.
The next phase will be decided by software conversion. Quantum Systems needs MOSAIC UXS to become valuable beyond its own hardware. Helsing needs Centaur, its combat cloud and its autonomous platforms to turn technical ambition into recurring revenue, delivered systems and sustained operational use.

Helsing and Quantum Systems are compared because they are the two Munich-area companies trying to build a new European defense prime around AI and autonomous systems. Their products overlap in drones, mission software and multi-domain autonomy, while their ambitions now reach far beyond their original markets.
The comparison has become especially relevant lately. The two companies raised a combined $3 billion within eleven days in their latest financing rounds. Investors were effectively backing two opposite routes to the same destination. Quantum Systems started with fielded hardware and is moving upward into software and command. Helsing started with defense AI and is moving downward into drones, aircraft, underwater vehicles and factories.
The rivalry is real even though Vector and HX-2 serve different missions. Quantum Systems wants its mission software to connect autonomous systems across air, land and sea. Helsing wants its AI stack to coordinate sensing, decisions and weapons across many of the same domains. Each company is trying to own far more than one platform.
Q2Why is it hard to decide whether Helsing or Quantum Systems is ahead?
Quantum Systems is ahead on sales and battlefield use, while Helsing is ahead on capital and high-end AI. That split is why the comparison stays close even after we look at the numbers.
The financial comparison is messy. Quantum Systems publishes selected revenue and profitability claims but no audited consolidated accounts. Helsing discloses even less about group revenue, while fundraising documents reported by the Financial Times contain forecasts rather than completed results. A euro from a delivered Vector system also tells us something different from a euro attached to a multi-year software program.
We can still reach a firm answer. Revenue, growth, battlefield use, customers, signed demand, manufacturing, software, capital and control of the wider system all tell us something different. Quantum Systems leads more of the operating categories. Helsing leads several of the categories that could matter most later.
Q3Is Quantum Systems already a bigger business than Helsing?
Quantum Systems currently looks clearly larger as a business. German reporting around its latest financing put 2025 revenue at about €300 million and said the company was profitable. Fundraising documents reviewed by the Financial Times then projected roughly €700 million for 2026.
The same Financial Times review put Helsing’s 2026 revenue forecast at €441 million. On those forward numbers, Quantum Systems would generate about 59% more revenue. Helsing may have higher-margin software inside its mix, but no public breakdown lets us test that claim.
These remain private-company forecasts, so we should not treat them like audited results. Still, the gap is too large to wave away. Quantum Systems is selling at a different scale and says it is doing so profitably.

Quantum Systems has the clearer growth case. Helsing may be expanding just as quickly, but its public numbers do not prove it. Quantum Systems said annual revenue had doubled when it raised capital in 2025. Its latest forecast would require revenue to more than double again in 2026.
That second figure is still a forecast, and reaching it will require a very strong second half. Yet the wider pattern is visible: Vector sales, counter-drone work, ground-robot orders, new factories and allied-market expansion are feeding the same company rather than a collection of unrelated experiments.
Helsing has recently added a German strike-drone contract, a large air-force software program, a first US factory and several new autonomous platforms. The pace is extraordinary for a company founded in 2021. We just cannot see how much of that activity is already becoming revenue.
Quantum Systems takes the growth point because it is scaling from a larger known base and claims profitability at the same time. Helsing’s expansion looks more dramatic. More of it also sits in new programs and future delivery schedules.
Q5Which company has more battlefield proof, Helsing or Quantum Systems?
Quantum Systems has far more battlefield proof than Helsing. Its latest financing announcement says its systems flew more than 19,000 missions in Ukraine during 2025. Vector has also been used there since 2022, giving the company several years to fix weaknesses, update the product and earn repeat orders.
The proof now extends outside Ukraine. The US Army selected Vector AI under a $15.3 million contract in April 2026, adding a second demanding customer and a different procurement process. That combination carries more weight than a successful demonstration on its own.
Helsing’s HX-2 record is newer and mixed. Reporting early in 2026 described failed launches and five hits from fourteen attempts in one Ukrainian document. Helsing challenged that account and said the testing unit requested more than 1,000 additional drones. In June, Axios reported a much stronger result at the US Army’s Project Flytrap exercise in Lithuania: fifteen hits and two near misses from seventeen HX-2 engagements under electronic attack.
The Lithuania result suggests HX-2 is improving quickly, or that the earlier Ukrainian test captured a less mature version. But seventeen exercise engagements cannot outweigh years of Vector operations and thousands of real missions. Quantum Systems is clearly ahead on battlefield proof and product readiness.
Q6Is Helsing solving a harder defense problem than Quantum Systems?
Helsing is solving the harder long-term defense problem, while Quantum Systems has the stronger answer for what armies are funding at scale now. Quantum Systems helps units find, track and understand targets with reliable reconnaissance systems, then links unmanned platforms through its mission software. Helsing wants one AI layer to help sensors, aircraft and weapons decide and act together.
Persistent sensing remains a daily constraint in Ukraine and across NATO planning. A command network cannot make good decisions when its units lack reliable information or lose connectivity under jamming. Vector’s endurance, vertical takeoff, onboard computing and modular sensors address that need directly.
Helsing is aiming further up the chain. Altra coordinates strike systems, its command software connects battlefield information, and Centaur brings learned autonomy into combat aircraft. Success there could give Helsing more strategic control than any single drone supplier.
For the current market, Quantum Systems is solving the problem with the clearest budget behind it. Helsing is working on the layer that could become more valuable once armed forces deploy autonomous systems in much larger numbers.

Quantum Systems has the stronger customer and distribution network because its products are already bought, flown and supported across more allied markets. The company reports production or operations across Germany, Ukraine, the United States, Australia, Romania, the United Kingdom and the Baltics.
Several recent moves widen that route to market. Quantum Systems became a founding member of the EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance, joined a NATO project to improve targeting between allied forces and entered Japan’s counter-UAS proof-of-concept program. Airbus also co-led the latest funding round and agreed to deepen its strategic cooperation with the company.
Helsing has fewer broad distribution channels, but some of its relationships reach deeper into major weapons programs. Saab helped put Helsing’s air-combat AI into a Gripen E. Germany has selected Helsing for strike drones and a new air-force software program. The United Kingdom hosts its maritime factory, while the newly announced West Virginia site gives Helsing its first US manufacturing base.
Quantum Systems still takes this category. More countries can already buy, operate and support its systems. Helsing’s customer relationships could eventually create stronger lock-in, especially where its software enters aircraft and national command infrastructure.
Q8Does Helsing or Quantum Systems have more demand already under contract?
Helsing has the larger public contract values, while Quantum Systems has more visible unit volume across several categories. Germany’s initial HX-2 award is worth about €268 million and can grow to roughly €1.46 billion. German lawmakers have also approved a €223 million combat-cloud program for Helsing.
Helsing previously announced production of 6,000 HX-2 drones for Ukraine after an earlier order for 4,000 HF-1 systems. Those orders give it a meaningful strike-drone base, although public information does not show how many units have been accepted, used or paid for.
Quantum Systems’ recent demand is spread more widely. Ukraine tasked the company with 15,000 interceptor drones, and its joint venture with Tencore received an initial order for 2,000 TerMIT ground vehicles over twelve months. Quantum Systems is also running frontline trials of Mandrill vehicles and autonomous Zetros trucks.
The larger public euro values put Helsing ahead on contracted demand, covering both hardware and software. Quantum Systems has a healthier mix of programs, but some unit volumes involve partner products rather than its own core platforms.
Q9Can Helsing or Quantum Systems manufacture at real scale?
Quantum Systems can already manufacture at real scale. Helsing is rapidly closing the gap. Quantum Systems has a production footprint across seven allied regions, including Ukraine and the United States. It has also used joint ventures to bring Ukrainian drone and ground-robot designs into German production.
Recent output programs show that this network is doing more than adding pins to a map. The company has a 2,000-unit TerMIT schedule, a 15,000-interceptor tasking and continuing Vector production. Its first Germany-built Linza batches have already been delivered to Ukraine.
Helsing’s RF-1 factory was designed for up to 1,000 strike drones per month. The company has since opened a maritime site in Plymouth, acquired Grob Aircraft and selected West Virginia for its first American Resilience Factory. That is a fast industrial buildout, but several sites are new. Stated capacity is not the same thing as sustained output.

Helsing currently has the stronger public evidence in advanced defense AI. During live flights in May and June 2025, its Centaur agent controlled a Saab Gripen E and handled a beyond-visual-range combat scenario against another Gripen. A safety pilot remained available, but the integration went well beyond a simulation or a small-drone demo.
The €223 million German combat-cloud program adds commercial weight to that technical result. Helsing is being paid to work on the information layer connecting combat assets, which fits the company’s original software-first strategy.
Quantum Systems’ MOSAIC UXS is easier to connect to fielded hardware. It can plan, control and link systems across air, land and sea, and Quantum Systems is integrating it with Vector, Mandrill and acquired ground-autonomy technology. Public evidence so far shows a useful mission-control product rather than a comparable high-end autonomy breakthrough.
Helsing is clearly ahead here. Quantum Systems may place its software on more working vehicles in the near term, but Helsing’s fighter-flight test and German software award show greater technical depth at the top end.
Q11Is Helsing or Quantum Systems becoming a multi-domain defense prime faster?
Quantum Systems is slightly closer to becoming a scaled multi-domain supplier because its expansion beyond drones is already producing orders. Helsing covers more domains on paper, but several of its biggest programs remain in development.
Quantum Systems acquired Fernride for ground autonomy and Hacker Motor for propulsion, then moved into Mandrill, autonomous Daimler trucks, TerMIT ground vehicles and interceptor drones. The important part is conversion. The company has moved from acquisitions and product launches into taskings, trials and unit orders within months.
Helsing’s expansion is broader. It owns Grob Aircraft, is developing the CA-1 autonomous combat aircraft, has launched underwater systems, created a space joint venture with OHB and opened a robotics research platform. The CA-1 roadmap targets a maiden flight in early 2027 and initial operating capability later in the decade, so its biggest upside is still ahead.
Helsing looks more like a future prime by ambition. Quantum Systems looks more like one in current operations. Quantum Systems edges this category because multi-domain leadership eventually requires customers using several product families, and it has more evidence of that transition today.
Q12What can Helsing or Quantum Systems do that competitors cannot easily copy?
Quantum Systems is harder to copy than Helsing today because years of frontline feedback, local Ukrainian operations and production learning reinforce one another. Competitors can build another fixed-wing VTOL drone. Recreating the mission data, repair knowledge, operator relationships and rapid product changes accumulated since 2022 takes much longer.
The software layer could strengthen that position. Every additional platform connected to the same planning and control system makes it easier for a customer to add another Quantum Systems product. The lock-in remains early, but the path is visible.
Helsing could eventually build a deeper advantage by controlling how different weapons work together. Few startups can combine top AI researchers, fighter-aircraft integration, strike manufacturing, underwater autonomy and enough capital to fund all of it. If Helsing’s AI systems begin sharing data and models across programs, the software advantage could spread much faster than a hardware advantage.
Quantum Systems owns the advantage that works today. Helsing is trying to build the one that could become harder to dislodge.

Helsing has greater financial firepower than Quantum Systems. Its latest round brought in $1.8 billion at an $18 billion valuation. Quantum Systems raised $1.2 billion at an $8 billion valuation. Helsing therefore added 50% more fresh capital.
Quantum Systems has one important advantage: it says the business is already profitable. It also secured a European financing package backed by the European Investment Bank and major commercial banks before its latest equity round. That gives it more ways to fund factories and working capital.
Helsing needs the larger balance sheet because it is developing aircraft, strike systems, underwater vehicles, space capabilities and software infrastructure at the same time. Those programs can absorb enormous amounts of cash before they reach serial production.
Helsing wins the funding category. Quantum Systems appears more disciplined, but Helsing can place larger bets and survive more failed experiments.

Helsing’s valuation is much harder to justify than Quantum Systems’ valuation. The Financial Times calculated a forward revenue multiple of roughly 32 times for Helsing, compared with 8.5 times for Quantum Systems. Investors are giving Helsing about 3.8 times the multiple.
The underlying revenue contrast is even sharper. Helsing is valued at $18 billion against forecast 2026 revenue of €441 million. Quantum Systems is valued at $8 billion against a forecast of about €700 million. Helsing therefore carries 2.25 times the valuation despite a lower revenue forecast.
The premium can work if Helsing becomes a recurring software layer inside fighters, strike networks, maritime systems and national command infrastructure. Those businesses could produce better margins and deeper switching costs than drone manufacturing.
The price leaves little room for ordinary execution. Helsing needs several major programs to become large businesses; one successful product will not be enough. Quantum Systems can miss some targets and still grow into its valuation more easily.

Neither company controls European defense spending yet. Established primes still dominate complex aircraft, ships, missiles and long procurement relationships. Among the new European players, Helsing has the highest ceiling. Quantum Systems has the strongest evidence that it can keep growing from products that already work.

For the present-day result, we gave more weight to systems used in real operations, recurring commercial activity, delivered production and broad customer access. For battlefield proof, we prioritized sustained operational use, completed missions and repeat procurement over controlled demonstrations. Exercises such as Project Flytrap still matter, especially when they test systems under electronic attack, but they carry less weight than several years of frontline use.

For manufacturing, we looked at active output, delivered batches, production footprints and funded programs. Announced factories and stated monthly capacity were treated as evidence of industrial intent until sustained production or customer deliveries showed that the capacity was being used.
For defense AI, we prioritized live integration with operationally relevant platforms and paid military software programs. Helsing’s Centaur flights aboard the Gripen E therefore carried more weight than a software demonstration, while Quantum Systems received more credit where MOSAIC UXS was connected to systems already entering trials or production.
